PriceRunner API Launch - Another Big Player

Today I received notice “PriceRunner is pleased to offer qualified publishers access to its newly updated API Feed and Shopping Banner Widgets.”  I was obviously interested to know more about it, so I called their marketing manager directly.  A couple hours later their GM of PriceRunner US called me back to personally answer my questions.  Wow, impressive.  So here is what I got out of it…

PriceRunner has launched a competitve API service for web publishers in the shopping industry.  Apparently PriceRunner has had an API for about a year now (and I found this comment that dates back to September 2005).

PriceRunner has sites in Sweden, France, Germany, UK, and the US.  They rank  #1 for shopping comparison in Sweden and Denmark, and near the top of other European countries.  You can become a partner to any of their sites via Commission Junction.

I have not yet played with the API, but I am told that it functions the same for all countries.  Since they cover a lot of countries this is very nice feature for expanding your own development outside the US.  Also another nice feature is there are no current restrictions on API calls.

Pricing Structure
The PriceRunner PPC structure is very competitive in comparison to both Shopping.com and Yahoo!  One benefit is that the program is offered both directly and through CJ.  So if you have a CJ account you can quickly and easily sign up to be a partner.  Plus, you’ll know that your money will be coming in a timely manner.  Here is the CPC pricing from CJ:

  • $0.20 USD base
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Clothing & Accessories
  • $0.45 USD on Item List: Photography
  • $0.45 USD on Item List: Computing
  • $0.35 USD on Item List: Contact Lens
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Flowers & Gifts
  • $0.20 USD on Item List: DIY
  • $0.35 USD on Item List: Games & Consoles
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Home & Garden
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Home Appliances
  • $0.40 USD on Item List: Home Cinema
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Jewelry
  • $0.35 USD on Item List: Phones
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Software
  • $0.20 USD on Item List: Sports & Outdoor
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Toys
  • $0.30 USD on Item List: Misc.
  • $0.25 USD on Item List: Kids & Family
  • $0.45 USD on Item List: Sound &Vision

However, if you can generate high volumes of traffic, you may want to go to them directly and try to negotiate for higher CPC.

Shopping Widgets
For those non-developers they also have released shopping widgets which are a step above banner ads.

i knew about the development of the API BUT i didnt knew that its also availabe via CJ!!!

btw do you know if there are any restrictions on intergrating shopping.com, Y!shopping and now pricerunner on one site?

cause from what i was told shopping.com doesnt allow “face to face” competition with other APIs…meaning that the results from its APIs should not by any means “directly compete” with other competing ones.

but i see mpire is using multiple API (!)?
